Classic Photo Project
Community Arts ProgramFor the past 24 years, Famli Inc. has sponsored the annual Classic Photo Project, launching in 1996 with the gathering at The World Stage in Leimert Park.
Inspired by the 1958 photograph “A Great Day in Harlem” by Art Kane, each year Famli pays homage to the architects of the Los Angeles Blacks Arts and Cultural Renaissance, particularly those who contributed to the Los Angeles Leimert Black Arts Movement.
Each year, we will also talk about where we are going as a community of artists and everyday people, concerned about our collective future and that of our youth.
We are ever thankful to the architects of our cultural renaissance, including Billy Higgins, Richard Fulton, Horace Tapscott, Marla Gibbs, and others.
We pay homage and others who are committed not only to their art, but the forward movement and progress of human kind.
