A Night of Soul and Service: Torrence Brannon-Reese Shines at GLORY Awards 2024

Sunday, September 29, 2024 – The GLORY Awards 2024, hosted by the Parent Action Coalition for Education (PACE), was a night to remember, especially when honoree Torrence Brannon-Reese took the stage. As the founder of FAMLI (Foundation for the Arts, Mentoring, Leadership and Innovation), Brannon-Reese was recognized for his extraordinary contributions to youth empowerment and community development in South Los Angeles.

Brannon-Reese’s acceptance speech was a heartfelt tribute to his roots and the power of service. He thanked his mother, who raised him and his brothers to be successful, educated men. His daughters were present, reminding us of the importance of family in shaping our communities.

But it was what happened next that truly electrified the room. Brannon-Reese, a New Orleans native with music in his blood, transformed the awards ceremony into an impromptu concert. Joined by singer Bob Kosh and fellow musicians, he treated the audience to soulful renditions of classics by The Spinners and Al Green.

As Brannon-Reese sang “I’ll Be Around” and “Let’s Stay Together,” the energy in the room was palpable. The performance wasn’t just entertainment – it was a demonstration of the passion and creativity that Brannon-Reese brings to his work with youth every day.

The GLORY Awards celebrated more than just individual achievements; it highlighted the collective power of community leaders who dedicate their lives to uplifting others. Torrence Brannon-Reese’s performance was a perfect embodiment of this spirit – using his talents to inspire, unite, and spread joy.

As the night came to a close, attendees left with renewed energy and commitment to the cause of education and youth empowerment in South LA. Torrence Brannon-Reese’s message was clear: when we combine our talents with service, we can create harmonious communities that thrive together.
