Sanctuary of Hope provides housing and education stabilization services to vulnerable youth, ages 16-25, who are at-promise, homeless, or foster care/programs in the Los Angeles area.
This Summer, SOH hosted a online summit to discuss the challenges within the Los Angeles County foster care system, which has more than 19,000 children in it’s program.
The statistics bear that former foster youth are more likely to experience just about every risk factor there is for homelessness. A few of the major ones include:
- Trauma and mental illness
- Being LGBTQ
- Pregnancy
- Criminal Activity
