FA-MLI, Inc. (Foundation for Arts, Mentoring, Leadership, and Innovation), in a pioneering partnership with Children, Youth & Family Collaboratives (CYFC), is delighted to announce the upcoming summer program entitled “Mentoring 2 Save A Generation.” This transformative initiative aims to empower our youth through a series of engaging activities and lessons, guiding them through rites of passage, fostering their development, and enhancing their life skills.
Mark your calendars for the kick-off reception on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM. This special event will take place at the vibrant heart of the Leimert Park “Black Arts” Village, at The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, located at 4305 Degnan Blvd., LA, CA 90008, Suite #101.
“Mentoring 2 Save A Generation” incorporates programs specifically tailored for both girls and boys. “See a Man Be a Man” and “Princess 2 Queen” initiatives offer a variety of compelling components that cater to the unique needs of our future leaders.
Participants will have the opportunity to dive into an eclectic mix of activities. From dance, poetry, and creative writing, to mindfulness techniques such as meditation and yoga. Our program also includes live performance coaching, acting, and even business skills such as economic literacy and investment strategies. Music therapy, Black History & Cultural Literacy, College Readiness, Trips & Outings further add to the depth and breadth of the program.
To foster an interactive and engaging learning environment, we employ a variety of teaching methods. These include circular-interactive discussions, guest speakers & artists, video screenings, light lectures, and journaling.
We’re also proud to announce a unique partnership with Ms. Monilade Walker-Dixon, founder of the Derf Reklaw Arts & Heritage Foundation, who will expertly lead the comprehensive dance portion of our program.
Please note that any youth under the age of 18 interested in participating must obtain written approval from their parents or legal guardian. It is also essential for parents to attend the kick-off reception or to arrange a meeting with the FA-MLI administration staff via Zoom or teleconference.
Join us in empowering our young generation and creating a brighter future through education, mentorship, and innovation. We look forward to welcoming you to our community.
